Senior Application Engineer

Permanent employee, Full-time · Berlin

The role
As part of our international team of automation engineers, you will automate production processes using MIRAI, Micropsi Industries’ cutting-edge, vision-based, AI-powered robot control system for industrial robots. With MIRAI, tasks are not programmed. Rather, the system learns to complete a task based on human demonstration. A robot equipped with MIRAI can handle demanding tasks that traditional vision technology cannot solve.

The chosen candidate will evaluate projects for renowned end-customers and collaborate with our distributor network in the development of specific components, strategies, and robot programs to achieve robust execution, meeting the specified cycle time and quality. You will be at the intersection of robotics, vision, machine learning, programming, and mechanical engineering. Moreover, you will have the chance to prove your creativity and perseverance while tackling complex automation problems and gaining deep insights into our technology and its utility in industrial applications.

To be successful at this job, you must be organized, structured, and ready to rethink traditional automation concepts. A good sense for spatial problems in robotics and automation greatly helps as well as excellent communication skills to exchange with experts from various fields.
Responsibilities
  • Define, plan, and realize evaluation and integration projects for high-value customers.
  • Develop MIRAI-based solutions to automate complex problems (e.g., cable insertion, object tracking, and screwdriving).
  • Take over on-premise commissioning, MIRAI skill training, robot programming, and testing.
  • Learn the application of our machine learning technology and its underlying principles to industrial applications to estimate feasibility and effort for future automation projects.
  • Collaborate with experts from various fields, not least customers, integrators, and our sales and development team.
  • Train customers in understanding MIRAI and successfully applying it themselves to their automation problems.
  • lead, support and coordinate MIRAI deployments on-site at our customers
Minimum Requirements
  • Proficiency in 3D design software, particularly Autodesk Fusion 360.
  • Hands-on experience of 3+ years in production automation, specializing in industrial and collaborative robots such as Universal Robots, Fanuc, ABB, and/or KUKA.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one robot programming language.
  • Capability in leading or managing complex deployment projects.
  • Effective communication skills, adept at conveying complex subjects clearly and respectfully.
  • Demonstrated ownership and persistence when tackling challenges.
  • Proficiency in German at negotiation level (B2) and fluent English (C1).
  • Willingness to travel extensively (40-50%) within Germany and Europe to serve customers.
  • Experience in industrial deployments of robots.
  • High resilience to change and ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
Nice-to-Haves
  • knowledge of Python
  • experience with PLC programming
  • experience working in a startup-environment
Benefits
  • Thirty days of paid vacation.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • A personal-development budget of €1,500 per year.
  • Public transportation subsidy.
  • Subsidy of Urbansports Membership
  • Company pension plan (optional).
About us
Micropsi Industries is a robotics software company that brings artificial intelligence to robots. We make a product called MIRAI, a first-of-its-kind robot control system that, using machine learning, supplies industrial robots with the capacity to perceive their work environment and adapt to changing conditions. MIRAI can be used in manufacturing, lab automation, logistics, and other fields. Through MIRAI, Micropsi Industries enables automation where automation was previously not viable, making factories more productive, workspaces more ergonomic, and businesses more resilient.

Ours is a curious, friendly, no-nonsense team that relishes finding elegant solutions to tough problems, be they technical, mathematical, strategic, or design-related. We like to learn for the sake of learning. We put a premium on personal development.

Micropsi Industries comprises about 55 people, among them robotics engineers, software engineers, cognitive scientists, business developers, and designers. We are headquartered in Berlin, and we have an office in San Francisco. The company is backed by Metaplanet, Project A Ventures, Coparion, Vito Ventures, Merck Ventures, Vsquared Ventures, Ahren Innovation Capital, Amplifier, as well as a group of experienced business angels from Munich and Berlin.
